The Reflectix®Radiant Barrier consists of two highly reflective layers of film (95% reflectivity). Although the product is thin (nominal thickness 0.005"), it is very strong and includes a center layer of poly scrim (for staple strength). Our radiant barrier is an excellent, energy efficient choice for upgrading an attic system. When installed properly a reduction of up to 10% in the home's air conditioning usage can result. The product is clean, lightweight and easy to install (compared to comparable attic systems). Additionally, attic-mounted HVAC ducts benefit from the reduction of attic surface temperatures. Note: Attic radiant barriers provide their greatest benefit on hot sunny days. For this reason they are recommended for installation in the Southern Zone of the USA (due to the amount of AC usage). However, the product will provide reduced heat gain into the home wherever (regionally) it is installed.
