Furring channel, a galvanized hat-shaped framing component, is used on masonry walls and ceiling assemblies. In concrete wall applications, furring channel is installed vertically to the wall surface using concrete nails or power-driven fasteners. In ceiling applications, furring channels can be attached directly to the underside of the building structure using tie wire, screws or power-driven fasteners. Gypsum panels, veneers or metal lath for plaster finishes are screw attached to the furring face.
- Furring Channel is also used in conjunction with U-channel, hanger wire and furring channel clips to form a rigid suspended ceiling framework. 18- or 16-gauge is commonly used as exterior purlins.
- Used to level uneven surfaces
- Additional packaging and handling charges may be required
