I fully agree with all the other negative postings. The same has happened to us and we did schedule a repair session only to have the repair people call us back to let us know they can not get the parts to repair the unit. What the heck is that all about? It says that our unit was manufactured in March of this year 2013 of coarse in China and so it is not like it is an old model. When I first went on the website to register the unit we have, it told me that it was a wrong model number I was putting in. Then I called the number of Haier and they told me since it was a newer model they did not have it put in the listing online but to always hold tight to our receipt. No kidding, duh. Glad we did since now we have to Uninstall it and return it to our friendly Menards and then choose another one, a different brand thank you, to have it installed and hoping to have the new one be good. This microwave is a huge disaster so save yourself not only the price of this unit, but all the aggravation and time you will spend when it goes crazy and has a mind of its own. Been scared it will start a fire so have now kept it unplugged until we get rid of it. If you find yourself in this position, when you call Menards, please make sure to tell them that the repair people can't even get their hands on the necessary parts needed for repair and then they will accept the return of it. Their policy. Good luck and no more Haier products for me ever again no matter how great the price is.
Pros: I loved the sleek look of the microwave. We were remodeling & it fit in well with our other black appliances.
Cons: Non working keypad, oven would start on its own and would not stop!!!
Turns on and cooks by itself... No help from support

Bought this oven at Menards when my old one died. I had never heard of the brand before and was skeptical of purchasing it, but the price was right and I thought, "how bad can it be?". That was my first mistake. After paying someone to install it for me, we tried it out and all of the buttons on the keypad were "frozen", none of them worked. We unplugged it for a few minutes, and plugged it back in, and it did work. The lights and fan went on, and the buttons worked. Set the clock and walked away. 15 mins. later, the oven turned itself on by itself, and started cooking! It set itself to cook on high for 5 mins. with nothing in it! Hit cancel, buttons froze again, unplugged again and started over. Same thing happened. Reset the timer. Turned itself on again 1 hour later. Called the support center and was told to unplug the oven and open the door to "release the energy". When I asked for how long I needed to do this, the operator said, "until you need to use it again."!! Now this oven is an over- the- range built in microwave, and the plug is in the cabinet above the microwave. I asked the operator again, how long I needed to keep it unplugged and he again said, "you need to make this your habit"! How ridicuious! I then asked to speak with a manager, and was put on hold for 12 minutes. The manager said that that was indeed their suggestion, and that they had had this problem before. She then said that she could send out a repair technician to "make sure everything was okay", but it would probably take days as they were in the Phillippines and they had to contact a service tech in the US. I told her I needed her to call me back that same day to let me know what was going on, and she said she would "try". Have not heard anything from them! Do not buy...nothing but trouble!!!
Purchased 2 months ago. Worked well until one morning when we came downstairs and found it running on its own. Pad was locked out, buttons would not work. 2 days later my kids used the microwave and left food in there after finished. Next morning, fire damage to cabinets, wall, massive smells throughout house. Great machine:) Turns on by itself, is possessed, extremely dangerous. When I buy an appliance I always enjoy when they potentially kill my family. Worst thing ever.
when out about 3 months ago and got this one new and used it for 2 months then it just started running on by it self. call the company and they said that some one would come and look at it and it would be fixed one month ago. STILL NOTHING!
