So I put this together, I was impressed with the size of the seating area, very nice, I can actually place my backpack next to me without a problem. Very well constructed steel and very sturdy. Now comes the negative part. I had a hard time getting on this because the foot platform is extremely small. So small is this foot platform that you can't take a standing up shot, ok basically you can not stand period, you are restricted to a sitting down shot only. I had a problem standing on it and securing my harness, I actually had to kneel on the seat. I also had a hard time getting of the stand because there is no place to put your feet. I'm a size 10m for chunky insulated hunting boots( have yet to see skinny insulated hunting boots), and I didn't have a place to rest my feet while seating down, I was restricted to the elevated bar that is connected to the foot platform as a foot rest only, which is not that bad for the first 2 hours, but after a while you want to change positions and you simply can't. Needless to say that I exchange it for the competition. Not as much room in the seating area, but I can stand turn and have the support that I didn't before.
Good stand. although I have not set it in a tree yet. Directions were not the best. Leaves out details at critical parts of construction (where rail, arm, and folding seat join.) Could use more supports in key stress areas but may be altered to strengthen. this one will be very roomy.
two good things. bolts instead of clip where ladder first meets actual stand part. support bars leading from ladder to under platform.
with a little time, a lot of mods could be done to tweek this up into a massively cool stand.
if you have never put together any type of stand be prepared to contact big dog support if they have it.
leave all bolts loose until completely together. bring a rubber mallet for the end.
throw out all safety gear or donate to new hunter just learning the ropes.
plenty of options for mounting homemade gunrack in different areas.
this is quite possibly the biggest 'single' ladder stand I have ever seen!
Pros: Big stand for the money
Cons: Directions lacking. Not for the faint hearted.
